若き行商人クラフト・ロレンスは、荷馬車を引く一頭の馬を相棒に、街から街へと商品を売り歩く日々を送っていた。 ある日、黄金色の麦畑が広がる小さな村を訪れた彼は、耳と尻尾を有する美しい少女と出会う。 「わっちの名前はホロ」 自身を“賢狼”と呼ぶホロは、豊穣を司る狼の化身だった――。 彼女の「遠く北にあるはずの故郷・ヨイツの森へ帰りたい」という望みを聞き、ロレンスとホロは北を目指す商売の旅の道連れとなる。 だが行商人の旅には思いがけない波乱がつきもので……。孤独だった行商人と、孤独だった狼の化身を乗せた馬車が、今、騒がしく走り始める。
A young peddler, Kraft Lawrence, spends his days selling his wares from town to town with a horse that pulls a wagon as his companion. One day, while visiting a small village with golden wheat fields, he meets a beautiful girl with ears and a tail. She calls herself “Wise Wolf” and is the incarnation of the wolf that governs fertility. Heeding her wish to return to her far northern homeland, the forest of Joiz, Lawrence and Holo become companions on a business journey to the north. However, a peddler’s journey is always accompanied by unexpected vicissitudes. …… The carriage carrying the lonely peddler and the lonely wolf incarnate now begins its noisy journey.
