日常的に怪獣が人々をおびやかす世界。 怪獣を討伐する「日本防衛隊」への入隊を志していた日比野カフカは、いつしかその夢を諦め、怪獣専門清掃業で働いていた。 「二人で怪獣を全滅させよう」 かつてそう誓い合った幼馴染の第3部隊隊長・亜白ミナの活躍と、防衛隊を目指す後輩・市川レノとの出会いをきっかけに再び夢を追い始めるカフカ。 しかしその矢先、謎の小型怪獣によって強大な力をもつ“怪獣に変身”してしまう！ 「怪獣８号」と名付けられ日本中から追われる存在になったカフカは、それでも防衛隊員への夢を諦めず、怪獣災害に立ち向かうのだった――。
In a world where monsters terrorize people on a daily basis. Kafuka Hibino, who had hoped to join the “Japan Defense Force” to defeat the monsters, eventually gives up on that dream and ends up working for a cleaning company that specializes in monsters. Kafka’s childhood friend, Captain Mina Ashira of Unit 3, and his junior colleague, Reno Ichikawa, both of whom aspire to join the JSDF, inspire Kafka to pursue his dream again. Just then, however, he is transformed into a powerful monster by a mysterious small monster! Named “Monster No. 8” and hunted by the whole of Japan, Kafka never gives up on his dream of becoming a member of the defense force and fights against monster disasters.
