多額の借金を抱え、さらに医者から余命2年を宣告された大学生、佐々木常宏。 鬱々とした日々を過ごす常宏は、ある日借金取りに追われ海に転落したところを、釣り好きの少女ハナとその釣り仲間の貴明たちに助けられる。 ハナに勧められるまま人生初の釣りを経験し、その釣り仲間とも親交を深める常宏。 ハナや貴明の働くコンビニでバイトも始め、難解な釣り用語や生アミの匂いに苦戦しながらも、徐々に釣りにハマっていく。 手元に伝わるアタリは、生の実感――。 転落し続け世界を見上げるだけの人生は、そう簡単に変わらない。 そんな常宏が釣りを通して見つけたものとは……？
Sasaki Tsunehiro is a college student who is saddled with a large amount of debt and has been told by his doctor that he has only two years to live. One day, he is chased by debt collectors and falls into the sea, but is rescued by Hana, a girl who loves fishing, and her fishing friend Takaaki and his friends. Hana encourages him to try fishing for the first time in his life, and Tsunehiro deepens his friendship with her friends. He starts working part-time at a convenience store where Hana and Takaaki work. He struggles with difficult fishing terms and the smell of raw ami, but gradually gets hooked on fishing. The bite in his hand is the real feeling of life. His life is not so easy to change, as he keeps falling down and looking up at the world. What did Tsunehiro find through fishing? ……
